Pituq is a long-running plant-based restaurant, café and shop on the east side of Gili Air, a short walk north of the harbour towards Sunrise Point. Everything on the menu is vegan and halal, made by hand in its own kitchen, with some produce coming from the team's organic garden on Lombok. The garden dining area is shaded by trees and thatch, and it is a calm spot even at lunchtime.
The menu takes flavours from around the world rather than sticking to one cuisine. Regulars point to the beefless rendang, jackfruit tacos, laksa and the rösti starter, plus no-bake cakes and date-based drinks. Portions are generous for the price. The same team makes peanut, almond and cashew butters and a rendang paste that you can buy to take home.
Next door are three small shops selling vegan Indonesian beauty products, bags and accessories, so it is easy to linger. It opens daily from 09:00 to 22:00, which makes it useful for a late breakfast or an early dinner. No booking is needed for small groups, but it does get busy around sunset in high season.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
