Coffee & Thyme

Coffee & Thyme sits right in front of Gili Trawangan's harbour, where the fast boats and public boats land, so it is often the first or last stop for visitors. It is a lively, part open-air café with a counter of cakes and a menu of breakfast staples: poached eggs, grilled chicken sandwiches, smoothie bowls, toasties and cold-pressed juices.

Coffee is the main reason to come. The espresso drinks are reliably good, and regulars rate the price-to-quality ratio as one of the best on the strip. Service is quick, which matters if you have a boat to catch; you can also take coffee and pastries away.

It is open daily from 07:00 to 21:00. Expect it to be busy around boat departure times in the morning and early afternoon. The harbour location means it is noisy rather than relaxing, so for a slow breakfast with a sea view you may prefer somewhere further along the beach. As a quick, dependable coffee stop, though, it is hard to beat.
