Gili Teak is a small boutique resort on the sunset side of Gili Trawangan, and its beachfront bar and restaurant are open to everyone. It is a calmer alternative to the busy east-side strip for watching the sun set over Bali, with the beach only 50 metres from the cottages.
The set-up includes an ocean-view restaurant, a sunset beach bar and a pool lounge, plus a long-table Sunday Supper. Guest reviews single out the happy hour and margaritas. If you want to stay, the resort's cottages are built from 120-year-old reclaimed Javanese teak and have air conditioning, rain showers and fast Wi-Fi around a freshwater pool.
Arrive well before sunset to get a good seat. The west coast is a 15–20 minute bike ride from the harbour, or you can take a cidomo. Contact the resort by WhatsApp. After dark the west-coast path is unlit, so bring a torch or arrange a cidomo back to the main strip.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
