Ashtari sits on a hill on the road from Kuta to Mawun, with an open-air shala and restaurant looking out over Kuta Bay. It is one of the best-known yoga spaces in south Lombok and runs a full daily class schedule alongside private sessions and teacher trainings.
Beyond drop-in classes there are three-night and six-night retreat packages (with a surf option), monthly events such as full-moon cacao ceremonies, sacred sound, new-moon ceremonies and ecstatic dance, and Indonesian cooking classes. The slow-food restaurant cooks with fresh, local ingredients, some grown in Ashtari's own permaculture garden, and there are a few rooms for overnight guests.
Come for a sunset class and stay for dinner on the terrace. The climb is steep, so take a scooter or taxi rather than walking from town. Check the class schedule on the website and message the yoga team on WhatsApp.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
