Cewin's Homestay is a family-run guesthouse in central Kuta, a few steps from restaurants and supermarkets yet set back from the main road around a courtyard full of plants. Kuta Beach is about 900 metres away, an easy walk for sunset.
Rooms are modern, clean and noticeably spacious, with air conditioning and hot water. Some are studios with a kitchen, and there are three- and four-bed rooms for families or friends. Toiletries are not supplied. The homestay serves simple breakfasts, and guests recommend the banana pancakes. Scooters can be rented on the premises, and the staff are known for going out of their way to help.
Rates start at roughly 20 euros a night, which makes it one of the better-value private rooms in town. Its Google rating is 4.7 from more than 230 reviews. A mosque is nearby, though guests say it is not intrusive. Book through Booking.com, Agoda or by phone.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
