Happiness Surf Company is a locally owned surf school based in Kuta, run by local instructors with more than ten years of experience. Lessons are kept small, with no more than two students per coach, and the school claims a 98% stand-up rate for first-timers. It holds a 4.7 rating on Google.

Lessons cover all levels and include pickup from your accommodation and boat access where needed. Beginners are usually taken to the soft, sandy-bottomed beach break at Selong Belanak, while more experienced surfers can be guided at Gerupuk Bay and Ekas, all within about 30 minutes of Kuta. Board rental is available for surfers who just need equipment, and there are surf retreats too.

A standard lesson costs around IDR 600,000, with seasonal deals at IDR 550,000. Bookings are made by WhatsApp.
