Jati, Kuta Lombok is a small eco-minded boutique property one street back from Kuta's main road, so the town's cafés and restaurants are a short walk away while the villas stay quiet. Its name means teak, a nod to the buildings themselves.
There are five villas: four one-bedroom villas named Sumatra, Java, Sumbawa and Bali, and the two-bedroom Lombok villa, which suits friends or a family. Each is built from a 100-year-old Javanese Limasan house whose teak frame was repurposed here, then fitted with modern bathrooms and finished with details such as bamboo roofing, antique stained glass and hand-carved statues. Every villa opens onto a tropical garden with a plunge pool. One-bedroom villas were listed from about Rp 1,800,000 per night on the website. There is a bar and restaurant on site, and breakfast is a highlight for guests.
Staff can arrange surf lessons, trips and transport. It is popular with repeat visitors and for small private events, so book early for peak season.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
