Jiang Nan (江南小馆) brings proper Chinese cooking to Kuta, which is otherwise heavy on Western cafés and Indonesian warungs. The setting is a lantern-lit garden courtyard with timber furniture, busy most evenings with a mix of travellers and residents.
The menu leans towards Sichuan flavours: dan dan and drunken noodles, chilli-oil dishes, steamed dumplings, wontons and xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), along with shrimp dishes, beef soup, bok choy and kimchi fried rice. Reviewers single out the prawns, the dumplings and the generous portions, and the food is noticeably more fiery than most Kuta menus, so ask if you want it toned down.
It is open daily from noon until 23:00, which makes it a useful late option after a sunset session. It sits on the main road in the town centre, within walking distance of most guesthouses. Prices are moderate and dishes are designed for sharing, so it works well for groups; call or message ahead for larger tables in high season.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
