Mia Mia's Kitchen is a family-run restaurant on Jl. Raya Kuta that sits between a warung and a sit-down restaurant: a bright, tiled dining room with plenty of seating, quick service and prices that stay well below Kuta's Western cafés. It is popular with visitors who want familiar Indonesian food in a comfortable setting.
The Indonesian dishes are the reason to go. Chicken satay with peanut sauce and beef rendang get the most praise, and there are nasi goreng, mie goreng, laksa, soto ayam, gado-gado and fried seafood noodles, plus a short list of burgers and pasta. Staff are good with dietary requirements. Flavours are tuned slightly towards visitors' tastes, so ask for extra sambal if you like heat.
It opens from 9am to 10:30pm, later than many local warungs, which is useful after a late surf or sunset trip. Cards are accepted with a small surcharge.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
