Milk Espresso (usually just called Milk) is one of the longest-running brunch cafés on Jl. Raya Kuta and still one of the busiest. The look is distinctive: a pale pink colour scheme, a bamboo-slatted terrace and an indoor room, plus a small boutique corner selling clothing, homewares and accessories.
The menu is Australian-style brunch: eggs Benedict, avocado toast, smoked salmon plates, granola, muesli and colourful smoothie bowls, with salads at lunchtime and vegan and child-friendly options throughout. Coffee is the main draw, from flat whites to iced lattes, and there are house drinks such as a hot honey latte and desserts including gelato.
It opens early (06:30) and closes mid-afternoon, so it suits surfers coming back from a dawn session and remote workers who want a table for a few hours. Service can slow down at peak breakfast time in high season, so arrive before 09:00 if you want a quick table. It is a short walk from most guesthouses in the town centre; scooter parking is out front.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
