Rawa Lombok is a compact boutique hotel a few minutes' ride from the centre of Kuta, far enough out to be quiet at night but close to shops, spas and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and individually styled, with patterned tiles, timber walls, blue doors and balconies or terraces overlooking a planted courtyard.
The rooftop is the focal point: a small pool lined with beanbags and loungers, with views towards the hills, and a bar and dining area where breakfast is served. Breakfast is à la carte and included in the rate, and guests consistently describe it as one of the best of their trip; the kitchen bakes its own sourdough and the lunch menu is worth staying in for. Rawa holds a 4.4 rating from around 150 Google reviews.
Rooms can feel humid and some noise carries at night, and there is no in-room safe. A scooter is useful for getting around, as is usual in Kuta. Booking is through the main online travel agencies.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
