Warung Flora has been feeding Kuta's visitors for years from its spot on Jl. Raya Kuta, slightly north of the busiest stretch of town. It is a relaxed, open-fronted place with a garden feel, lit up in the evenings, and it draws a steady mix of surfers, backpackers and returning holidaymakers.
The menu mixes Indonesian staples with a few fusion dishes. Chicken and vegetable curries, cap cay (stir-fried vegetables), nasi campur-style plates and fresh grilled fish are the usual recommendations, served with rice and sambal, and the fruit juices, watermelon in particular, are large and cheap. Portions are generous and prices stay close to local warung levels.
Flora opens in the evening only, from around 5pm to 10pm. The kitchen can be slow when it is busy, so it suits an unhurried dinner rather than a quick bite. It is an easy scooter ride or a 10–15 minute walk from the centre of Kuta. Cash is the safest way to pay.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
