KERIZ is a small café and restaurant on Jalan Pariwisata in Senaru, run by a local family who also organise Rinjani treks through Rony Adventure. The dining room opens onto a terrace with one of the better valley and jungle views in the village, and black langur monkeys are sometimes spotted in the trees below.
The kitchen turns out generous portions of Indonesian staples: chicken curry, gado-gado with peanut sauce, fried rice and noodles, along with simple pasta dishes and juices. Guests often mention the warmth of the owners, who may offer a lift back to your homestay if it rains. In the evening the mood turns sociable, with music, a guitar on hand and karaoke for anyone willing.
KERIZ opens daily from 08:00 to 23:00 and prices are low. It is a short walk downhill from the main cluster of Senaru homestays and an easy stop on the way back from the waterfalls.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
