Waroeng Senaru is a small hotel and restaurant in Senaru, set at around 500 metres above sea level with views over the hills. Its wooden-roofed bungalows sit around a lawn and are more polished than most village homestays, with air conditioning, a kettle and modern bathrooms.
The restaurant is open to non-guests from early morning to 22:00 and serves generous portions of Indonesian food at fair prices; it is also a popular place to refuel after coming down from the mountain, and staff have been known to let returning trekkers shower before onward travel. Staff speak good English and are helpful with onward plans. Some guests have reported lapses in housekeeping, so check your room on arrival and ask for fresh linen if needed.
The waterfalls and the Senaru trailhead are a short drive away. It is a sensible choice if you want a bit more comfort before or after a trek without leaving Senaru.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
