Aruna Senggigi combines contemporary and traditional architecture on a beachfront site just south of central Senggigi. Accommodation is a mix of rooms in the main buildings and private bungalow-style chalets along landscaped paths with water features. Two main pools, one with an unusual pebble floor, overlook the sea.
Facilities include a beachfront restaurant, a bar, a spa, a gym that guests describe as unusually complete for a resort, and activities such as cycling, yoga, jet-ski and banana-boat rides. There is a short walking trail with lookout points behind the property. The breakfast buffet is broad, with plenty of Indonesian dishes and Western options.
The resort also hosts conferences and weddings in its ballroom, so it can be busy with groups at times. Rooms are spacious and well kept, though some guests mention thin walls. It is about 75 minutes from the airport and a short ride from Senggigi's restaurants. Book direct on the website for offers.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
