Sudamala Resort, Senggigi is the Lombok outpost of the Indonesian Sudamala group, set on Mangsit Beach. The design draws heavily on Sasak and Lombok-Balinese architecture, with thatched ceilings, carved wood and stonework, and the suites are named after island landmarks such as Lingsar, Narmada and Suranadi.
Room options include garden suites, upper-level Narmada suites with sunset balconies and sunken baths, and Suranadi villas with private pools and traditional berugak pavilions. The restaurant leans towards Indonesian and Lombok dishes, and the Sudajiva Spa offers signature massages and rituals using local ingredients. The group also runs Aqura Dive, so diving and snorkelling trips to the Gilis can be arranged from the resort.
Mangsit is about ten minutes north of central Senggigi and roughly 90 minutes from the airport. It is a good choice for couples who want something more characterful than a standard resort; ask for an upper-level suite for the best sunset views.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
