Ekas Rising is a small café and restaurant in Lendang Terak, the hamlet above the Ekas Inside and Outside surf breaks on Lombok's south-east coast. It is run by a local Sasak family who also rent out a few cottages, and it has become the social hub for surfers staying in the area.
The coffee is the main draw, described by reviewers as the best in the area, and the iced matcha and caramel macchiato are popular too. Breakfasts include scrambled eggs on toast with mashed avocado, and the honey-grilled chicken and gado-gado are favourites later in the day. Some evenings the team lights a fire pit and grills fish. Wi-Fi is available and cards are accepted, which is unusual locally. Food can take a while at busy times.
It is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00, and is a short ride from the surf resorts along the Ekas peninsula.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
