Ekas Bay

Ekas Bay sits in the far south-east of Lombok, about an hour's drive from Kuta on smaller roads. It is the place people go when even Kuta feels busy: a deep, sheltered bay with reef breaks at its mouth, seaweed farms in the shallows and very little development.

The waves at Ekas Inside and Outside are reached by boat and are best for intermediate and advanced surfers, though the inside break can work for improvers on smaller days. A few surf lodges and eco stays around the bay organise boats, meals and guiding, so most visitors book an all-in package.

Facilities are basic beyond the lodges, so stock up on cash and anything you need in Kuta before you go. The reward is empty line-ups, big skies and a glimpse of rural Lombok life.
