Roemah Langko is run by Putera Lombok, one of Mataram's established restaurant names, and occupies a spacious old-style building on Jl. Langko in Ampenan, the city's historic port quarter. The high ceilings, white columns and garden views give it a gracious, old-Mataram feel that suits a relaxed lunch.
The menu covers Lombok and wider Indonesian dishes: ayam taliwang, sate, grilled and fried seafood, plecing kangkung, soups and rice platters, many designed for sharing. It is a popular choice for families and groups, with a 4.6 Google rating from more than 2,200 reviews, and is more comfortable for first-time visitors than the smaller warungs while still serving properly local flavours.
Opening hours are daily from 11:00 to 21:00. It combines well with a wander around Ampenan's old Chinese and Arab quarter and the waterfront, and it is only around 20 minutes' drive from Senggigi. Book ahead for large groups, as the restaurant is a favourite for family celebrations and gatherings at weekends.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
