Seafood and Grilled Fish 99 is a canteen-style restaurant in Cakranegara, Mataram's busy commercial district, that locals and visitors both rate for fresh, well-priced seafood. Despite the plain surroundings, the cooking is reliable, and it is one of the best places in the city for an unpretentious seafood dinner.

The grilled fish is the reason to come: snapper and other reef fish charred over coals and served with sambal and lime. Garlic prawns, crab in Padang or sweet-and-sour sauce, steamed clams and calamari are all popular, and kangkung in oyster sauce is the usual vegetable side. Portions are fair and prices are low, so a group can order generously without a large bill.

The restaurant has parking and a small prayer room. Service is friendly but basic, and tables can be wiped down rather than spotless, so set expectations accordingly. It is a short drive from the Cakranegara hotels and from Mayura Water Palace, making it an easy dinner stop after an afternoon of sightseeing.
