Tuwa Kawa Coffee & Roastery

Tuwa Kawa is a coffee shop and roastery in north-west Mataram that has become one of the city's best-known places to try local coffee. It roasts beans in-house, including Lombok and other Indonesian origins, and staff are happy to talk customers through the different beans and brewing methods.

The space includes a smart indoor coffee bar, a large outdoor courtyard shaded by trees, and a small library corner. The food menu covers snacks and Indonesian dishes, with extra weekend specials such as ayam bakar and seafood sate. It is a social, lively place, particularly in the evenings, when local friends gather in the courtyard.

Note that the outdoor area allows smoking and indoor seating is limited, so it is less suited to young children. It opens 09:00 to 23:00 daily. Roasted beans are sold to take home and make a good gift. It is a short drive from Jalan Udayana and the Selaparang area hotels.
