Warung Bamboo is a laid-back beachside restaurant on Gili Gede, with tables set out on the sand under the trees and lanterns strung up at night. It is run by a couple: Eka cooks, and Haris takes guests out on snorkelling trips around the nearby islands.
The beef rendang gets the most praise from reviewers, who call it exceptionally tender, and the fish curry soup and seafood nasi goreng are also popular. There are a few options for vegetarians and vegans. Music usually plays in the background and the sea views make it a pleasant spot for a long dinner. It holds 4.9 on Google from more than 150 reviews.
It is open daily from 08:00 to 22:00. Ask about the day trip to several of the southern Gilis. Cash only. It is a short walk from the main jetty and the island's cluster of homestays, so it is easy to reach for dinner even if you are staying at a resort further along the shore.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
