Dean's Warung

Dean's Warung is one of a row of simple beach warungs on Mawun, the horseshoe-shaped bay between Kuta and Selong Belanak. Set under shade trees with parasols and sunbeds for rent at fair prices, it is a good place to base yourself for a beach day, watching the surf or swimming in the calmer middle of the bay.

The menu is classic warung fare cooked to order: nasi and mie goreng, coconut tofu and tempeh curry packed with vegetables, fresh fish and octopus brought up from the sea for the grill, homemade chips and cold Bintang. Dean, the owner, is often around and happy to accommodate special requests.

It opens daily from 08:00 to 19:00. Food can be slow when busy, and stray dogs and bracelet sellers are part of the scene, so go with time to spare. There is a small parking fee for the beach. Google reviewers rate it 4.5.
