Folk Cafe

Folk Cafe is a small coffee shop perched on a ridge above Mekarsari village, between Mawun and Selong Belanak. The view takes in green hills, the coastline and, often, paragliders launching from the slope nearby. A swing and garden seating face the sea, and there is a colourful mural-painted café building.

Visitors rate the coffee very highly (it has a 4.9 Google rating from over 500 reviews) and the menu of light, healthy breakfasts, toasts, cakes and bowls suits a post-surf stop. There is deliberately no Wi-Fi, which makes it a peaceful place to read, talk or simply watch the view.

It is open daily from 09:00 to 18:30. The access road is steep in places, so ride carefully on a scooter, especially after rain. It makes an easy break on the drive from Kuta to Selong Belanak. Tampah and Mawun beaches are a short ride away.
