Tampah Hills

Tampah Hills is a villa resort on the hillside above Tampah Beach, between Selong Belanak and Mawun. Rather than hotel rooms, it rents a collection of individually designed holiday villas, from the two-bedroom Villa Mentari a short walk from the beach to large houses such as Villa Awasi, Villa Nabu and the seven-bedroom Kastil Utara, which sleeps 16. Every villa has its own pool and most have sea or sunset views.

Service is the selling point: villas come with butlers, private chefs can cook in, and there is a beach restaurant reached by buggy. A sports centre has padel, tennis and beach volleyball courts. The set-up suits families, groups of friends and retreats who want to stay put for a week.

Reviews are mostly glowing about the staff and views, though a few guests report rigid policies on non-refundable early-bird rates, so read the terms carefully. It is about 25 minutes from Kuta. Book via the website.
