Bareng Homestay is a recently built set of bungalows off Jalan Raya Tetebatu, with rice terraces right in front of the doors and a river nearby. Being new, rooms are in good condition: clean, comfortable and simply furnished, with terraces for sitting out with a coffee.
The owner is friendly and serves a home-cooked breakfast, and he leads walking tours through the fields that explain the local fruits, spices and farming. It is a peaceful place, aimed at travellers who want rice-field views and quiet rather than facilities. Reviews so far are all five-star.
Book by phone or WhatsApp. The village warungs are a short ride away, and the owner can help with scooter hire and onward transport. As a newer property it has fewer reviews than the village's established homestays, but every one so far has been five stars. Evenings are cool at this altitude, so bring a light layer, and expect the call to prayer from village mosques in the early morning.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
