Lombok Go Where

Tetebatu

Tetebatu is a farming village on the southern foothills of Mount Rinjani, about 1.5 hours from the airport. It is green, cool and slow: rice terraces, tobacco fields, forest and waterfalls, with views up to the volcano on clear mornings. It is the place to see rural Lombok without a multi-day trek.

Most visitors join a guided walk through the rice fields and villages, often taking in the Jeruk Manis or Tibu Bunter waterfalls and the monkey forest. Local guides also run cooking classes, visits to weaving and pottery villages nearby, and easy cycling routes.

Accommodation is mostly homestays and small eco lodges, many run by local families, with home cooking and bungalows looking over the fields. Evenings are quiet and cooler than the coast, so bring a light layer.
