Sunset Bungalow is a tiny family property just off Jalan Raya Tetebatu, with two wooden bungalows on the lowest of a series of terraces, surrounded by rice, bananas, coconut palms, vanilla and fruit trees. Each bungalow has a large, comfortable bed, a hot shower with decent pressure and a terrace overlooking the fields and forest.
The host, Suhaedi (Didi), cooks breakfast himself and is the main reason guests rate it 4.9. His guided walks through the rice fields, monkey forest and to a waterfall come with explanations of how each crop is grown, and he can arrange scooter rental. Wi-Fi is reported to work well. It is very quiet, though occasional scooter noise, rain on the roof and the call to prayer may disturb light sleepers.
With only two bungalows it books up, so reserve ahead by phone or message. It is within walking distance of the village warungs. Other members of the host's extended family run bungalows on the neighbouring terraces, so ask if these two are full.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
