Zaeni Warung is a family-run warung on the main road through Tetebatu, popular with travellers for its home-style Sasak and Indonesian cooking. Meals cost roughly IDR 30,000–60,000, and the kitchen uses vegetables and spices from local farms and the market.
It is also a small tour and cooking business. The family runs hands-on cooking classes, usually in the morning, where you learn to make sambals and spice pastes and cook several traditional dishes over a wood fire in the garden. Guides from the warung lead walks to the rice terraces, waterfalls and monkey forest, and can arrange trips further afield, including Rinjani.
The warung opens daily from about 09:00 to 20:00. Book cooking classes and tours a day ahead on WhatsApp. It is about 20 minutes' drive from the main road, and most Tetebatu guesthouses are a short scooter ride away.
Message ahead in peak season: July, August and the Christmas holidays fill up fast.
