Gili Meno

Gili Meno is the smallest and quietest of the three Gili Islands, popular with couples and anyone who wants white sand, clear water and very little else. There is no nightlife to speak of, a salt lake in the middle and a handful of resorts and bungalows around the coast.

Snorkelling is superb. The Nest, a ring of underwater statues off the west coast, is the island's best-known sight, and turtles are frequent along the reefs. A small turtle hatchery near the north-east coast works on conservation and welcomes visitors. Dive centres on the island are smaller and less hurried than on Trawangan.

Walking around the island takes about an hour. Boats to the other Gilis run several times a day, so it is easy to stay here and visit Trawangan or Air for a meal or a night out.
